1. Book and Description: Artworks for Elementary Teachers serves elementary education majors with little or no prior background in art. It provides introductory experiences both in knowing how to create art and how to respond to it. The four areas of study in discipline-based art education--aesthetics, art production, art criticism and art history--are covered thoroughly and include the latest in state and national standards.

2. Related and Replacement Sites:
a. http://thevirtualinstructor.com/artfundamentals.html
      • This website could replace chapter 2 and 3 over understanding an using the elements of art, and principles of art respectively. It goes over every element and principle, and what they are used for. The only thing it lacks compared to the book is the projects that the book recommends. However, I feel the teacher has the knowledge to create their own project rather than using the ones from the book.
b. http://www.terraingallery.org/Art-Talks-Archive.html
    • This website could replace chapter 4 over aesthetics, art history, and art criticism. The website even gives excercises to help students see “what art is”. It is a lot of introductory information, but it is very close to what the book has in this chapter. Again it lacks the recommended projects, but I really feel teachers don't need them.

  1. http://artinaction.org/lessongroup/grades?gclid=CLLCodfj4aQCFRLLKgod8lV4JQ
    • This website could replace chapter 6 over art curriculum and lesson instruction. The website talks about art in western culture, and also around the world, so this could possibly replace chapter 7 as well. The website is full of previously made lesson plans that a teacher could use. It is a valuable resource, and talks about what the curriculum for art is, and what to grade over.
3. Reflection: Every website I found is free for use. I find this very interesting and frankly somewhat sad how much of the information in these books can be found on the internet for free. This assignment leaves me with no doubt that textbooks will someday be extinct, and technology will prevail, as it always does in the past.

1. Brief Description: This is a history of the art world through the ages. It has lots and lots of pictures that are bright and interesting. This book would give anyone all the basics into the art world from famous artists and periods to famous pieces of art. It would cover all art standards in the Kansas Curriculum.
2. Related Sites:http://www.metmuseum.org/home.asp - This site has everything that is is the metropolitan Museum and is a good cross section of the art world.
http://www.artcyclopedia.com/ - This site is very much like the book in that it has the history of art and lots and lots of pictures of art.
http://www.americanart.si.edu/index3.cfm - This site is for the Smithsonian. It is an awesome site that covers all things art from modern to the past. A must see for all art teachers and anyone interested in the art world.
3.Reflection: This text book is awesome and has lots of fun things but compared to the websites it just falls short. The book would be a great thing to start of with but the websites can direct you to works of art and artist far beyond this book.
